Hi I'm Janet and I am an herbalist. If nature created it, I'm in it! I love Water, Sunshine, Rainwater, Worms, Ants, Bees oh the list can go on and on... I love my homeland Jamaica where my herbal journey began at the tender age of 7. I was very sickly growing up, to this day I believe the Sun sustained me during the many years of illnesses I dealt with.
The day finally came when Dr. Patel (I will never forget her) on Barnett Street Montego Bay in Jamaica told my mother take her home and make her comfortable. I remember my mother crying as we drove back to the country, her sobs will never leave me to this day. We got to the house and my mother called for my grandmother, and she told her "Janet is not going too make it".
My grandmother ran with her hands on her head while screaming for our neighbor Cynthia. They took off into the bush and came back later that night with smelly, spiced, and some sweet smelling plants. I was given a "Bath" and steamed over a clothes wash pan. My weak little body tried to fight them off but to no avail, they won or should I say I won! The next morning I was back outside with my dogs playing in the Jamaican sun. The herbs healed me. From that night my connection and journey with plants, herbs and healing began.
I became a certified Herbalist just over 10 years ago, and have been teaching on how how herbs work in the body. While on a trip to Jordan in 2023 my husband I were picking Wild Basil in the Wadi Rum Desert a revelation came to me to heal a different way. Too many times people purchase blended or mixed herbs and don't fully get the desired results. I decided to use my expertise in crafting my teas using what I have forged and so Onyx Glori was born. To date many people have been healed and informed by my knowledge. I love to help people feel better, it's in my bones. If you ever need a true natural healer, reach out to me, it's my joy to see you well. My roots run deep in herbs and their healing powers.
This guy is the wind beneath Onyx Glori's wings. He's my husband Arnold (AKA) Trevor. Like me, his love of plants are endless. I always say he has 10 green thumbs. Just about anything he plants grows and thrives. He got his start back in Jamaica attending 4H Club.
He is well known for his gardening prowess. His passion in rehabilitating dying plants and caring for them as their vibration and frequencies merge with their will to survive and thrive. Our Sunroom is evidence of this phenomenon.
In 2017 Trev's cholesterol went up to 219. Dr. Basri his Primary Care physician prescribed Lipitor. He told the Dr. no. I'm going to trying something natural. The Dr. told him he'd give him 3 weeks to come back to have his blood recheck as he's a candidate for a stroke or heart attack. He returned to do blood work in 3 weeks using my Cholesterol Blend and sure enough it went from 219 to 165 in three weeks.
He is the lead picker, digger, plucker, puller, cutter when we Forage. He'll spend hours cutting up Burdock root, Dandelions root, Jamaican Sarsparilla to name a few of the many herbs we've foraged. Our partnership is strong because of Trevor's immense love for plants. His roots run deep in pants thriving.
An absolute gem is finding a major patch of healthy Elderberry trees. We spent hours filling our containers here.
This is a true labor of love! Trevor is cutting up Jamaican Sarsaparilla he dug up in the parish of Clarendon, Jamaica. This is the highest content of Iron in any plant known to man.
One of many buckets of Burdock Root from our foraging in North West Bronx. Cleaning and cutting takes hours. All worth it for the great Blood Cleanser.
We are so grateful to be given permission to dig up Dandelion and Burdock Root on the grounds of Andrew Freedman Home. It's a pleasure knowing no pesticides, herbicides or unnatural substances are used in our Herbs.
